Amy Loewan collaborated with the Muttart Conservatory of Edmonton in the year 1990 to create an educational display of the Canadian temperate rainforest. At that time, old growth forests on the west coast was under the threat of mass clear cutting. Amy travelled to Vancouver Island and painted on location the old growth forests of Carmanah Vallery and Meares Island. The paintings were then displayed in a major exhibition at the Muttart Conservatory.
