Mask Performance,  2005

Amy Loewan collaborated with Japanese dancer and mine artist Yayoi Hirano on an exhibition/performance event in 2005 at The Works Art & Design Festival in Edmonton, Alberta. Under the mentorship of master mask carver in Japan, Yayoi created some poignantly beautiful wooden mask for her performance. Amy employed Yayoi’s mask as her point of departure to create large wall drawings on gallery walls. The gallery space became the stage where Yayoi presented her performance.
