Artist in Service in Nepal, 2017

In April 2017, Amy went to Nepal as a volunteer artist to serve at the Leprosy Rehab Centre Shanti Sewa Griha. She engaged with children and adults, painted their portraits, and along with other volunteers, coordinated the making of a sculptural work called a “peace dove”. Using Nepali paper as feathers for the peace dove, children were instructed to paint spontaneously on the paper and later to paste the paper onto the sculpture. Some of the handicapped children screamed with joy as they engaged in the painting process
