Rice Paper Weave
rice paper, ink, charcoal, pastel, watercolour
In the late 90‘s I started to create small rice paper weave to address social and cultural concerns. I began the process by cutting pieces of rice paper and folded them into long weaving strips. Hand written calligraphy and computed generated text of world languages were posted onto these long weaving strips. I started with the one word “Kindness” and later on extended to include the following eight words: compassion, kindness, respect, understanding, patience, tolerance, gentleness and forgiveness.
I continue to explore and create small rice paper weave. My works are represented by Willock & Sax Gallery in Banff, Alberta and the Art Rental Gallery of Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton.
